PawCheck's triage algorithm is based on emergency veterinary protocols used by animal hospitals worldwide. We consulted with veterinary professionals to ensure the logic reflects real-world emergency triage principles.
The tool considers:
- Symptom severity (breathing, consciousness, bleeding, etc.)
- Species-specific risks (cats hide illness, large dogs risk bloat, etc.)
- Time-sensitive emergencies (toxin ingestion, seizures, urinary obstruction)

PawCheck was created by a pet owner with three dogs (2 German Shepherds and 1 American Staffordshire Terrier) who wanted a quick, reliable way to know if a vet visit was needed.
As someone who's experienced the panic of "Is this an emergency or can it wait?", I built PawCheck to give pet owners the clarity they need in stressful moments.
The tool was developed with input from veterinary professionals to ensure the triage logic reflects real emergency protocols.
